MAY 12 - COMMUNITY UPDATE

Happy Mother's Day to those celebrating today! We understand that updates may vary week to week, with some weeks with less news than others and it's normal to feel restless during this process. As a collective, we're committed to pressuring our Township and Region for the answers we deserve. We'll keep you informed as soon as we have updates to share. Thank you for your continued support and patience.

Spreading the word in Wilmot Township

We received an incredible turnout of volunteers from the Fight For Farmland, environmental groups, and Green Party, ready to canvass door-to-door and install lawn signs on Saturday. Unfortunately, heavy rain began just as we were preparing to start. Nonetheless, a remarkable group of dedicated volunteers braved the downpours and managed to distribute nearly 100 additional signs and over 300 flyers to homes across Baden, New Hamburg, and Petersburg.

Our targeted areas included the Livingston subdivision and vicinity of the public school in Baden, the Foundry Road area south of Baden, the west side of New Hamburg, and the main streets of Petersburg. Regrettably, we were unable to reach St. Agatha, New Dundee, Phillipsburg, or Wellesley this time but hope to get signs up in these areas soon.

Once again, we were overwhelmed by the tremendous response and support. Our volunteers remain enthusiastic, with several committed to continuing canvassing on weeknights this week to cover the streets we missed. Others are eagerly awaiting details of the next opportunity to contribute.

If you're interested and available to volunteer for future canvassing efforts, please feel free to contact us at wilmotlandowners@gmail.com. We'd love to have your support!

 New Flyer

We have created a flyer to both help provide an overview of our current situation for those wanting to learn more and to leave behind at when no one is home when we are out in the community so people can learn how to get a lawn sign.  We have attached a PDF of the flyer below.  Please let us know if you would like copies of these flyers to share with others.

Lawn Signs

We've received another 500 lawn signs this past week and have replenished our designated lawn sign pick-up locations! If know of people hoping to get a lawn sign, please have them visit one of our dedicated locations listed on the website. We kindly request a $10 voluntary donation to help cover the cost of the signs. Voluntary contributions for signs could please be sent to: wilmotlandowners@gmail.com

Thank you for your support and for helping to ensure we can get more signs into the community to show that we are unwilling!

Please continue to show firsthand that we are unwilling to host this mega-industrial site and massive growth of tens of thousands of newresidents in Wilmot Township by:

  • Signing petitions and sending letters, e-mails, and phone calls to elected officials

  • Putting up a lawn sign encouraging others to Fight For Farmland too

  • Volunteering to help engage the public and build support canvassing door-to-door

  • Encouraging people to sign up for updates on the www.fightforfarmland.com website.

We’re here for you!
